Cascais balances the charm of a small, traditional Portuguese coastal town with a cosmopolitan and international atmosphere. It is considered to be the Portuguese Riviera. This former fishing village became well-known as a resort in the late 19th and early 20th century, a playground for European aristocrats and royalty.
