We will offer you painting workshops in Cascais, a small village near Portugal’s capital Lisbon, and near Sintra.

Our goal is to provide painting courses during the holidays that offer a unique experience of some of the most beautiful beaches, golf courses, gardens and villages of Europe, which can be found in Cascais and the surrounding area.

Elsa Figueiredo was born in Lisbon in 1966. Made Basic Studies in ceramics at Ar.co (1989/1992) and begin to work in her studio. Keep studies in initiation course in drawing at S.N.B.A., course in porcelain at an artist studio, tiles glazes at E.S.B.A.L., and start to search in the subject of firing clay sculptures like kiln-sculpture, pit firing, raku and paperkilns.


 

Also explore and introduce others material like glass, stone,  paper clay or earth architecture as a way to develop the connection between rough earth and ceramics. For that participates in severals symposiums and congress at universities and museums. At the same time finishes the course in monitors of plastic expression at Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2005) and later finishes the Graduate in Sociocultural Animation at ISCE (2013).


Participates in several exhibitions and fairs and her work is represented in several collections: City council of Oeiras, Torres Vedras and Loures; collection Edinfor-EDP Group and Ar.co collection; as well as private collections.
Make projects in ceramics and plastic expression to apply in schools, museums and foundations. Gives classes in ceramics techniques, firing processes, contemporany and traditional tiles at Ar.co and at her studio.


 

 

In her work she investigates contrasts between textures and light; manipulates materials until they reveal their inner strength in a specific dialogue that the fire will fix.

 

The mixture of rough paste, very tartarised, with porcelain or pure mineral or glass are intrinsically attracted by balance; her work with ceramics tries to represente the ambiguous energy of the Elements, so contrasting as complementary.


 

Accomplish workshops with technics applied to the ceramic, traditional and contemporary tilework, glass aggregates.
