Luis Cámara

Margarida Ornelas

Luis Cámara was born and lives in Madrid, Spain, where he has his studio.

Economist by profession, he began to paint in oil media, but from his encounter with watercolor he devoted himself entirely to this technique, studying with some great Spanish watercolor masters.

“I love watercolor because of the immediacy, the transparency, the atmosphere and the evocative art works that only this technique can create. And I like it not only for the surprising results that you can reach, but also for the painting process in itself. Each new watercolor is a real challenge and the fact that you can work with many different approaches (dry/wet and all their combinations) makes each watercolor an adventure, a surprising, amazing and unique experience”.

He is a member of the Spanish Association of Watercolor Painters (AEDA) and member of the Group of Advanced Watercolor Painters. Luis teaches watercolor classes in Madrid both in the art school "Alda con Limón" and in his own studio and participates as instructor in intensive watercolor workshops and in online watercolor courses.

His work has been exhibited in many countries like Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Slovenia, Albania, Austria, Mexico and China.

“I am always searching, trying different approaches, more realistic or abstract depending on my new discoveries or my mood. In the last years I have started to paint in a more abstract and loose way, but always with a figurative reference”.
