How to paint realistic Sea in watercolour
Paint in Portugal and Julia Barminova, a watercolour artist, who has traversed various port cities worldwide in search of inspiration and new seascapes, invite you to join us for a masterclass in Portugal.
If the breathtaking beauty of sea waves leaves you breathless, and you aspire to capture the essence of sails, light, and the myriad colours of the surface, along with the intricate details of sailing ropes and fishing tackle... But how often have you struggled to master the precise technique to achieve the desired results? That is precisely the question we aim to answer here!
Join us in the enchanting landscapes of Portugal, where each brushstroke becomes part of a remarkable seascape. This unique journey into the world of watercolours will not only allow you to appreciate the beauty of nature but also empower you with the techniques to bring your artistic visions to captivating fruition.
Experience the exhilaration when a few strokes of watercolour paint, varying in saturation and shade, transform into something grand on the canvas! Progressing from easy to advanced watercolour techniques, participants will not only paint their own sea but also gain a comprehensive understanding of the process behind the captivating watercolour sea paintings.
The primary focus of this class is to achieve the best representation of water, capture the spirit of the port, and master the nuances of watercolour technique.
Importantly, you will learn to paint water effectively, whether in the studio, during your travels, or outdoors on pleinairs.
Marine watercolours offer a plethora of stories to tell: the textured fishing boats, dynamic sailing scenes, ocean waves crashing on coastal rocks, serene waters of smaller bays, and yachts in the marina.
Our references will concentrate on the vast open sea with its intriguing wave structure and underwater subjects.
