Roberto Zangarelli is a teacher of watercolor of the Association Aquarelle Art Studio in Rome.

“Painting while having fun is the basis of my way of seeing art, and this is what I hope to convey to those who attend my courses. It is essential to know the technique in every discipline but it is equally important to be able to express your feelings in what you do. To do this, for me it is essential to know how to have fun while making art.”

“I" have never been satisfied with a simple illustration faithful to reality, but I have tried to combine the classical method with personal interpretation. I went deeply into the use of brushes, sometimes distorting their use, even using brushes that were not exactly suited to the discipline but which, for the purposes of the result, gave me those different signs and which made the painting characteristic. I studied the mixtures of colors to have dissonant and particular shades. I courageously took risks by deconstructing forms and obtaining spells where our rational mind cannot reach.”

“Research and desire to take the watercolor technique to the extreme led me to paint in a personal and intimate way, trying to increasingly ignore those rules and dogmas that are imposed on us by the outside world. The "beautiful and well done" leaves room for my voice, allowing me to immerse myself completely in art, giving me back that intimacy that is in each of us. Now for me watercolor speaks most forcefully when it appears imperfect, accidental and fragmentary, somehow only signaling its presence. I like this very much.”

“I try to make all this available to those who want to learn the watercolor technique without forgetting that there is also an area that is not very tangible but which makes the project work: passion.”
